spreading the good news

In Jesus Is Lord Baptist Church we believe that evangelism if the number one job of our members. Each member is expected to engage in evangelism and present an evangelism report to the whole congregation during Sunday worship. The work of God is for our members to embrace the Great Commission as a means of growing the Kingdom of God; the more people that accept Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior, the greater the size of the Kingdom of God. So we go out there in our respective Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and Ends of the Earth to make Jesus known and deliver people from hell fire and get them into the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our Evangelism Coordinator, Sister Ugochinyelum Eke-Okoro gives us the tracts and other materials that equip us for outreach that makes us fishers of people.

Jesus took his job on earth very seriously. He told his disciples, “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.” (John 4:34). Jesus also said, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” (John 5:17). Do you know that you are not working if you ignore evangelism? People need to be told about Jesus and his saving power before they can accept him as the Lord of their life. How could they believe, if no one preaches to them? They need to know what to believe in before they believe.

As long as it is day or as long as we are alive, we should be doing God’s work of reconciling the world to him. We are Christ’s ambassadors. Time is running out for all of us. We need to be concerned about souls being lost to hell. Many people are still living without the knowledge of God and some are even leaving earth without accepting Jesus into their lives. Where will such people spend eternity? Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they remain all life without Jesus. We need to reach these people for Jesus. We should realize that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

All people of God are commanded to proclaim the word of God as Good News to all the people of the world. It is the single work we can do for God that embraces all we represent as Christians. It is not surprising that the company or the great army that proclaim the Good News every day has grown. No one likes to be left unemployed in Christ. We are under compulsion to preach the word of God because Jesus commanded all of us in the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-20).
