STANDING FIRM IN FAITH

“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.” (Genesis 17:1).

It is the spirit of integrity of Joseph that brought blessings not only to himself but also to the house of Jacob and the people of Egypt. The devil saw that Joseph was on his way up to carry out a divine purpose, so it decided to use Potiphar’s wife to pull him down. Integrity and faithfulness were the tools the Holy Spirit gave to Joseph in his battle against sexual sin. Satan was beaten hands down. The Lord used Joseph’s brothers to get him to Egypt to do what God wanted him to do. His brothers meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. It is significant that Joseph opened a door of blessing for many people around him. What Joseph did to be a blessing to other people is what we are required to do to be a blessing to people around us. What it takes is commitment. It requires integrity. Joseph was committed to the service of the Lord with integrity. He was committed when things were moving well and when things were moving in the negative direction. Because Joseph was faithful, everything he did was successful. People around him were blessed. There was a spillover of blessing. If Joseph was a committed and faithful servant of God with integrity, then we can do more because Jesus makes the difference. Abram was faithful and that pleased God. Aim at being like Jesus and be able to influence those around you.

We learn from the suffering of Joseph that God sharpens us for his work through persecution. Remain in fellowship and in the word as a means of remaining sharpened all the time. There should be a passion to serve the Lord. Even Christ had the passion to do his Father’s work. Again, when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will receive power for boldness as a disciple of Christ and for victory over Satan. Therefore, do not negotiate with Satan. If you negotiate with Satan, you will have problems. All you need to tell Satan is, “I will not do it.” What kills the testimony of many people is sex. Whenever you are moving up, Satan will come to pull you down, and in many cases, using the weapon of sex. If you are in the pit, the way to get out of it is to have the perspective of what you are and what Jesus stands for. Tell Satan: “I don’t fear how dip the pit is; I am not afraid. Jesus has been in this pit and he came out of it. Jesus knows how to get me out of the pit.” Jesus said that we should be of good cheer because he has overcome the world.
